SOCCER SCHOOL
what is it?
The Soccer School is a program whereby young recreational soccer players are provided with professional coaching in a competitive club environment. Players will train on a similar schedule to our older competitive teams and begin to master the basics such as first touch, passing, dribbling, shooting and defending.
who is it for?
The Soccer School is open to any U7-U8 player that wishes to gain additional training before joining a U8/U9 competitive team when they are of age. Spaces are limited so players will have to go through the tryout process in order to be accepted into the program. For the 2022/23 season, the Soccer School will be available to players born in 2015 and 2016.
what is the schedule?
The Soccer School follows the same schedule as our competitive program, running from August to May. Mandatory practices will be held two times per week (days to be confirmed) from 5:30pm-7:00pm.
During the Fall, players in the Soccer School will focus solely on training. There will be no games or tournaments. Therefore players will be automatically enrolled in our JTAA Fall Rec soccer program during this period to try out their new skills and techniques in real games. Registration for Fall rec soccer is included in the overall Soccer School fee.
During the Spring the Soccer School will form a competitive team that will enter into a local league and two local tournaments.
Below is the basic breakdown of how a Soccer School season will look.
August to November - Two practices per week - Play on a Rec team on the weekends.
December to January - Reduced practice schedule due to the holiday season.
February to May - Two practices per week - Soccer School participants create a competitive U8 team - Play in competitive league games on the weekends and will enter two local tournaments.
